After seven years, Faculty of Arts and Science (FAS) Dean Barbara Crow takes her last flight in the role.
On July 18, the University announced Dean Crow will be commencing her istrative leave effective Aug. 1 with interim appointment Bob Lemieux filling the position for the next two years.
Lemieux is returning to Queen’s from the University of Waterloo where he’ll be taking a leave of absence, stated the Queen’s Gazette. Predating his tenure at Waterloo, Lemieux was a faculty member at Queen’s in the Department of Chemistry from 1992 to 2015.
“I would like to thank Dean Crow for her significant contributions to the University during the seven years she led the Faculty of Arts and Science,” said Principal Deane.
Crow’s departure comes after a challenging academic year for the FAS, which is currently facing a shutdown of the Queen’s Arts and Science Online (ASO) program and staff layoffs.
In 2022, the University announced the reappointment of Crow for a second term as Dean of the FAS effective at the beginning of July. Her three year term was set to end June 30, 2025.
The search for a permanent dean for the FAS is expected to begin this summer.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
