Queen’s Women’s Football finished their season with grit last weekend at the Ontario Women’s Intercollegiate Football Association (OWIFA).
For the first time ever, Queen’s will host the Vanier Cup.
Days after the men’s football season ended, coaches and players regrouped for their next adventure: the women’s football team.

Getting in the wheelbarrow

Since the pandemic began in 2020, Queen’s Football has recorded an impressive 18 wins to only three losses—all at the hands of the country-best Western Mustangs.  
On Saturday, Queen’s Football travelled to London for the 114th Yates Cup against the Western Mustangs. They lost 44-16.
Queen’s is going to the Yates Cup.  
On Saturday, the Gaels met the Varsity Blues at Richardson for their annual homecoming game as the teams competed for a spot in the OUA semi-finals.
On Saturday, the Gaels met the McMaster Marauders at Richardson Stadium.
On Saturday, Queen’s Football met York at Richardson Stadium where tons of students and alumni watched the Gaels bring in another victory.  

Queen’s got spirit

If you’ve attended a football game this season, you’ve seen all three of the Gaels spirit squads cheering on the sidelines.  
On Sept. 24, Queen’s Football showed off at Alumni Stadium in Guelph.
The energy at Richardson on Saturday was electric. The stadium felt like it was pulsing, and Gaels football channelled all that energy into a win as they wrecked the Ravens.
The Gaels have not prevailed over the Mustangs in the last nine matchups they’ve played. Unfortunately, Saturday was no different: Western made it ten with a win on home turf.
Lightning delayed the start of the Gaels and Gee Gees Sept. 3 matchup at TD Place in Ottawa. 
The Gaels met the Varsity Blues at Richardson Stadium on Aug. 27.
